"Can be used with your PC" 2010-01-08
By Ahmed Desouky (BRADENTON, FL, US)
If you bought this projector to work with your PC, you can still do it, with a S-video to TV out converter, connect the S-video to your computer and the TV out to the projector, you will have the image only, the audio will still go out from your speakers.

Also I should mention that this is a very good projector, very decent quality for a projector of this size.

"Does NOT work with IPhone" 2009-12-18
By Chris Liew (Orlando, FL United States)
The promotional photos show that it works with an iphone but it does Not. Another reviewer says that it works only with the ipod functions of the iphone but I have not checked that out. The photographs on my iphone do not display, nor anything else I have tried.

The instructions are pretty pathetic. I am returning this device.

 "Not for everyone" 2009-11-17
By skizot (Orlando, FL)
The unit is very easy to use and is extremely small and light weight. The unit I received was defective and had to be returned as the picture would flicker, however for what I was able to tell about the picture quality, it is just not there. The primary use would have been to have something so portable to connect to my iPhone and even with the focus adjustments, the picture quality was just okay. Too dark and hard to see unless the room is extremely dark. I would have probably keep the unit and tried it out some more in different settings had mine not had the issues it had.

Set some realistic expectations with yourself on how this will perform. The price at Amazon is amazing at over 33% under MSRP and for the right use (traveling business professional for instance) that is just doing presentations, this would probably be just fine.

I was surprised at how easy it was to set up and to use. It is very potable and can be carried in my backpack. I had some trouble finding the appropriate cable attachment for my MacBook Pro but once it was determined which ones would work, the instructions which came with the Optoma it worked well.

"Works great for a classroom!" 2010-05-17
By Jennifer
I bought this primarily for use in the classroom and have been very impressed with the ease of use and the picture quality. It is bright enough to be easily viewed with the lights on and setup is quick and easy. It fits with my laptop in my backpack and the remote control/laser pointer included works perfectly. For the money, I couldn't be more pleased...well, a USB cable would have been helpful but otherwise it's great!

 "ideal for home-use" 2010-06-09
By Aykut Erbas (Istanbul)
I read mostly positive reviews about this projector on various websites and here. The display quality is quite fascinating; from 3m you can have a screen of roughly 2.5 x 1.5 m^2 without losing any picture quality. I did not have too much doubt actually.. For a non-lcd projector, good value for this price.

"Great buy for the money" 2010-06-05
By D. Wagner
I installed this projector about a month ago and have been impressed with each new thing I have tried on it. Movies are clear even with some ambient light. Gaming is an amazing experience. I purchased a 12' wide screen and this projector fills it with ease. I recently hooked the computer up for the first time and it was fantastic as well. The price of this projector and the screen were well below what I would have paid for a large TV by itself. I recommend this projector completely and if you want more information check out the other reviews available on the web. I haven't found a bad one yet from an unbiased reviewer.

"Great quality for the price!" 2010-06-05
By Luigi AS (Manila, PH)
I am using the Optoma HD66 for almost a month now. I connected it to a Western Digital HDTV and projected it to a home made 94" Wilsonart Designer White Laminate, and I am totally happy with it. I'm not sure how much better the picture quality of more expensive projectors ($2,000 and up) can get but for a $650 price tag I am very much satisfied. Again, I have been using this for just a month now, so I wouldn't know the reliability or durability of the Optoma HD66 (time will tell).

 "Optoma HD-66" 2010-05-12
By Chris (Virginia, USA)
Very pleased with this projector. I have owned for ~ 1 month, used in a family home theatre room primarily for movies and games, occasionally TV/sports. Great picture quality and brightness. Have not used the 3D function but did not purchase it for that use.

I was deciding between the Optoma HD-65, HD-66 and the Epson 705. Decided over the HD-65 due to brightness capability, and over the Epson 705 because of offset (I am using ceiling mount and the Epson would not work as well to fit my setup). DLP vs LCD was not a deciding factor for me -- both technologies had plus and minus that are a wash for what I am looking for.

 "Love this little projector" 2010-06-01
By D. Hart
I'm in the tech field and I've been waiting for the pico projectors to come down in price. I just never expected one of this quality and feature set to sell for under $300.00. I've looked at the 3M ones and some of the others but none come close to this 20 lumens switch blade of a Pico projector. I got mine about 3 weeks ago and I've been using it constantly. Everyone who see's it is like "I'm so getting one of these". I like the fact that it came bundled with the cables required to connect your laptop. With other units this was extra as well as a case. I purchased the IPOD connector kit so I could hook up my Iphone. It looks awesome with video coming from my Iphone. Please note that the extra battery in the Ipod/Iphone connector kit is for the PK101/102 projectors and will not fit in the PK201. So bascially I'll ebay that battery. The Arcsoft media software I'm not so happy about. I tried converting a video to the PK201 profile settings in Arcsoft only to have it not work on the unit. If I convert the same file utilizing Arcsoft's PK101 profile (lower video bit rate) then the file will play on the PK201. I have a support case open with them about but its really an Arcsoft issue. I've worked around that anyway by utilzing other software to do the job. Long story short is that I've done a lot of research regarding the Pico Projectors, this is by far the best due to its brightness, input capabilities, resolution, and ability to play content on its own (built in media player). Those are some of the most important things to me when I was looking for a Pico Projector. Did I also mention it utilizes Micro SD so I you can have up to 16gb of storage. It's great just taking this unit out without having to hookup any wires and play a movie or project a powerpoint. I've never written a review before and I hope this helps you in selecting a Pico Proejctor.

Cheers

 "very cool" 2010-05-11
By Terry Maxey (Texas)
The projector works great and is much brighter than I expected. I thought it would only work in the darkest rooms but it can be used reasonably well in any typical indoor environment. I also use it to replace an older projector that I didn't want to buy a new lamp for and find it to be essentially equal in performance. Watching movies on the ceiling at night is also cool.

The only issue is that battery life is limited so you will want to have an extra available to watch a movie. Also, there is no "keystone" adjustment so it is best to have the projector set up pretty square to the wall you are projecting on. But overall, the compact size and cool factor outweighs these minor inconveniences.

"Awesome projector, video encoding software needs work" 2010-05-02
By Kristopher L. Gainey (Norfolk, VA)
This thing is amazing! Great resolution, compact and excellent build quality. The on-screen menu and micro SD slot are all welcome additions. I put on an episode of Top Gear in HD on it and another officer on my ship watching commented its as good as his flat screen at home. My only complaints are the lack of iPod adapter, extra battery (both of which came with the Pk101) and the video encoding software. The software took a 600mb .mp4 file (that the projector said wasn't supported) and increased it to 1.4gb! I recommend using HandBrake (it's free), use the iPhone setting and bump the resolution to around 640x352 (what I had the TG episode play at). Aside from that, I'm very happy with this projector.

"Nice improvement over earlier models" 2010-04-26
By W. Smith (Between here and there.)
Had the PK201 for about 3 weeks now. 4 1/2 stars. The brightness has much improved. I love that I can now connect just about anything to the PK201. Hopefully the rest of the cables/adapter will be available soon. Battery life is poor, at about an hour. But I mostly keep this plugged in all the time. I wish the screen was just a little bit bigger. 70" easy with good clarity. The focus wheel is much better, not loose like previous models. Great for travel and hotel rooms. Even with some light ambient lighting you can see the picture fine. Best with complete darkness.

**** Update **** After a lot of use I've noticed a few things when compared to other PK models. First the projection screen on the 201 has a smaller footprint on the wall. I'm unable to get the entire screen to focus. Areas remain blurry no matter what. 101 had better focus. Get the PK301, really impressed with that model. Bought one myself.

 "Amazing HD Projector!!!" 2010-05-12
By Joshua Swinford (Cincinnati,Ohio)
The Optoma HD 20 1080P projector is by far the best HD projector under $1000 and maybe even under $1500!!! Right out of the box, it is packaged excellently. Comes with easy to read manuals and a cd. Watching blu-rays on this thing is beautiful. The 1080P really shows on the smoothness of images and the colors are breathtaking and the blacks are deeper than what most people say they are as long as you adjust the settings. The settings right out of the box aren't great so definitely adjust them. HDTV looks amazing too. The remote lights up bright. Even with ambient light in the room, the image comes through greatly. I have it about 10 feet away from the wall and it is throwing a 90 inch image. Also, try the super wide mode... amazing! I HIGHLY recommend a 1.3 High Speed HDMI cable for this projector so you get the full color effect, which I got at [...] and you can get them in different colors. This is a great buy for anyone wanting a great home theater for sports, blu-rays, and video gaming. Thanks for another great product Optoma!

"Great Entry Level HD Projector" 2010-05-12
By J. Reihl (Granger, IN)
Used this in my basement home theater room. I absolutely love it. Simple, easy set up. Not too many settings to tweak and deal with. Can't believe the value for the price. I have only tried it with blu-ray discs, DVDs, and PS3 games. Have not used with HD TV yet.

It's quiet when watching a movie, quick start-up and shut down.

The remote is not the best, but that is my only complaint. I would recommend this for budget-minded home theaters. You will not be disappointed.

 "Optoma HD20 Projector - Excellent!" 2010-05-12
By pwrkat (Wilton, CT)
After much research, I chose the Optoma HD20 Hi-Def projector and am pleased with the performance and the affordable price. It's a great projector at a price that many LCD TV's can't match. It has a razor sharp effect that is amazing on a large screen. The sharp, clear picture makes it much more desirable than a 40" LCD. It was easy to install overhead because of its light weight and the setup was fairly quick. I attached it to my Bose sound system. I had a problem hooking up the cable TV. It turned out to be that my cable company uses an outdated cable box that claims to be HDMI capable but in reality is not. Once I knew that was the problem, I was able to hook up the cable box using a composite cable. The cable box/composite cable will only handle 1080i.

Two HDMI inputs allow me to connect to more than one device at a time, such as a DVD player or video gaming system. It also provides VGA, component and composite video inputs for connection to other devices. The projection lamp is rated to last up to 4000 hours in standard mode or 3000 hours in bright mode. I found that it delivers plenty of of bright even in the low power mode so that will make the rather expensive bulb last even longer.

Fan noise is minimal, not a problem. The high quality picture, great features, ease of installation and use make it an excellent projector for our home use. I love this product because it works flawlessly as I expected.

I recommend this projector
